Tough Times

Everyone, I've just been laid off my job... my wife and I decided to cut off services that are not necessary for our daily lives, it's hard for me but I will have to disconnect our internet service next month. I enjoyed maintaining the site and I do hope you guys had a nice time here also. Hopefully I can restore the site back up when I get a new job, I'll be selling the computers that I use for now, I'll keep the hard drives with the site and the galleria. All I'll have left is my one laptop Sad

I should say we had a good time didn't we? For those who donated before I thank you all, and if anyone here wants to take over maintaining the site, if you have a server to host it please let me know. I've been looking at possible free web hosts just for the forum but I couldn't find one that allows adult posts. And also with those kind of hosting, one report from the site owners and they'll close it.

Right now my main concern is my wife and our baby, I do hope I find a job quickly, but with this economy... it just sucks.

Signing off... Fuji

Floyd Mayweather Sr. is full of SHIT!

http://punch.freedomblogging.com/2009/04/29/roach-mayweather-conference-call-transcript/4327/

My commentary on this interview :)

Floyd Mayweather: Yeah, we are ready. We will be ready. We appreciate, we’re looking to win this fight and it will be like to make the fight go real fast. And I think that Freddie is too hyped over this thing about Manny knocking out Ricky in three rounds. If that’s going to happen, it’s going to be the other way around.
In your face sucker! Not 3 but 2 rounds you dolt!

Floyd Mayweather: I think he’s just what I said. Freddie “The Joke Coach” Roach. That’s what I think he is. He’s a joke of a coach.
Freddie's a joke? Have you looked at yourself lately in the mirror you gas bag old fool.

Floyd Mayweather: Of course that’s one of the things. I mean, defense wins fights. The name of the game is hit and don’t be hit. So, that’s what I’ve been playing with Ricky to do. I know Freddie Roach said on TV. Don’t let him hit your body; don’t let him hit your body. We’re going to hit that body. It’s just a matter of time.We’ve got 12 rounds in there to fight. You don’t go a round without your body being hit.
Your fighter didn't even make it pass the second round LOL, did you teach Hatton to use his face as a shield?! He would have probably had a better chance without this "joke coach"

Floyd Mayweather: I would say so. I said one thing before. Ricky probably could have won this fight without me. I said that, I did say that but I will say one thing, he’s definitely got a much better chance of winning it with me than without me.
He would have probably made it to the 6th round if you weren't his trainer.

Q: Do you also think it’s unusual that he’s able to still have this kind of power as he moves up in weight?

Freddie Roach: Yeah, usually guys when they move up in weight they lose their power, but Manny’s staying power is better than ever and we’re going to show it - we’ll show it in this fight, I’m sure.
The unstopable Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao just keeps getting better.

Trainer of the Year
Freddie Roach - 3
Floyd "the gas bag" Mayweather Sr - ZEEEEROOOOOOOOOOOOO

Freddie Roach: Three times. Three times.
Floyd Mayweather: Do I want to elaborate on that? Not really because, like I said, Freddie he’s talking all that garbage but then when this fight get up here we’re going to find out just what talent really is. There isn’t any sense in getting scared now. When you try to send me a present. When you try to give me a gift over there with the T-shirts trying to be my friend.
Talent? Don't even talk about talent cause you have none FMS!

Floyd Mayweather: We’re gonna win the fight and whatever’s needed that’s what we’re going to do. If he has to box, he can box. If we want to brawl, we are gonna brawl. Whatever he wants to do. Because whatever it is that we do we can do better than Manny anyway. We can box better than Manny. He can box better than Manny. He definitely is stronger than Manny on the aggressive tip. Ricky is definitely going to back him up. He can fight going backward. He ain’t no Muhammad Ali. So, it doesn’t make any difference. Anyway he come. I know what he’s gonna do though. Soon as Ricky touch him with one good shot, if he’s able to run, that’s what he’s gonna do the rest of the fight. So, he’ll run the rest of the fight. That’s what he’s going to do.

I think he can be a good fortune teller, but only in reverse, that is take the opposite of everything he says.

Floyd Mayweather: And he’s probably going to go crawl up in some hole somewhere.
Where did you crawl into after the fight Floyd? Up your mama's ass LOL!
This guy is a total ass, bet no one would ever hire him again after this, even his son wouldn't hire this idiot.

Ubuntu 9.04: Installing Lighttpd 1.5 from source with PHP + mod_cache

To install PHP:
sudo apt-get install php5-cgi

Installing Lighttpd 1.5
The latest version I could find on their site:
http://redmine.lighttpd.net/wiki/lighttpd/Docs:ModCache
http://opensu.se/~darix/lighttpd/
http://blog.lighttpd.net/articles/tag/1.5.0

wget http://www.lighttpd.net/download/lighttpd-1.5.0-r1992.tar.gz
wget http://www.linux.com.cn/modcache/lighttpd-1.5.0.r2294.modcache.v.1.6.1.tar.gz

This is the patched version of lighttpd with mod_cache, extract this to a folder

tar zxvf lighttpd-1.5.#######.gz
cd lighttpd-1.5.0.cache

We need to install some required libraries first

sudo apt-get install libssl-dev zlib1g-dev libbz2-dev libattr1-dev libpcre3-dev libmysqlclient15-dev libfam-dev libldap2-dev libfcgi-dev libgdbm-dev libmemcache-dev liblua5.1-0-dev pkg-config uuid-dev libsqlite3-dev libxml2-dev libkrb5-dev libglib2.0-dev libaio-dev libfam0 memcached

type ./configure --help to see configuration options

This is what I used
./configure --program-prefix= --prefix=/usr --exec-prefix=/usr --bindir=/usr/bin --sbindir=/usr/sbin --sysconfdir=/etc --datadir=/usr/share --includedir=/usr/include --libdir=/usr/lib --libexecdir=/usr/libexec --localstatedir=/var --sharedstatedir=/usr/com --mandir=/usr/share/man --infodir=/usr/share/info --with-openssl --with-memcache --with-gdbm

make

sudo make install

after installing you should be able to type
lighttpd -V

and see some nice output from lighttpd

you can also type spawn-fcgi to make sure that installed as well

type sudo su

copy the sample config file
mkdir /etc/lighttpd
cp doc/lighttpd.conf /etc/lighttpd/

log folder
mkdir /var/log/lighttpd

we need to create a startup file in the /etc/init.d folder
Go here to download the startup script http://redmine.lighttpd.net/projects/lighttpd/wiki/ScriptsUbuntu
create a file called lighttpd in the /etc/init.d/ folder and then
chmod a+x /etc/init.d/lighttpd

Create a user to run lighttpd: if you have installed lighttpd 1.4 from apt or apache you can just use the www-data user again
adduser -m -d /var/www -s /sbin/nologin lighttpd

Modify the lighttpd file from /etc/init.d/ to match the user you want to run it as

chown www-data:www-data /var/log/lighttpd

then type
update-rc.d lighttpd defaults

Edit the lighttpd.conf file to enable php fastcgi

Make sure following modules are loaded:
server.modules += ( "mod_cache" "mod_proxy_core", "mod_proxy_backend_fastcgi" )

You can also enable other modules that you need, mod_cache has to be enable first!
cache.bases = ("/var/cache/lighttpd")
cache.enable = "enable"
cache.support-queries = "enable"
cache.debug = "enable"
cache.dynamic-mode = "enable"
Change
server.document-root = "/var/www/"
server.errorlog = "/var/log/lighttpd/error.log"
server.event-handler = "linux-sysepoll"
server.network-backend = "gthread-aio"
accesslog.filename = "/var/log/lighttpd/access.log"
compress.cache-dir = "/tmp/lighttpd/cache/compress/"
compress.filetype = ("text/plain", "text/html")
#### status module
status.status-url = "/server-status"
status.statistics-url = "/server-statistics"

cache.bases = ("/var/cache/lighttpd")
cache.enable = "enable"
cache.support-queries = "enable"
cache.debug = "enable"
cache.dynamic-mode = "enable"
cache.refresh-pattern = (
"/$" => "5 update-on-refresh no-expire-header", # update homepage every 5 minutes and on refresh requests without setting expire headers
"\.(?i)(flv)$" => "0 fetchall-for-range-request flv-streaming", # to work with mod_flv_streaming for flv files
"\.(?i)(js|css|xml)$" => "240", # update js/css/xml every 4 hours and on refresh requests
"\.(?i)(htm|html|shtml)$" => "30", # update html/htm/shtml every 30 minutes and on refresh requests
"\.(?i)(jpg|bmp|jpeg|gif|png)$" => "2880", # update graphics files every 2 days
"\.(?i)(rar|zip|wmv|avi|mp3|ape|rm|mpeg|mpg|wma|asf|rmvb|flv)$" => "0 fetchall-for-range-request", # cache media file forever
".(?i)php$" => "5", # update php request every 5 minutes
"." => "30 update-on-refresh" # default to update every 30 minutes and on refresh requests
)

Make sure /var/cache/lighttpd is writeable by lighttpd and it exists.

Configure fastcgi PGP module by appending following configuration directives:

$HTTP["url"] =~ "\.php$" {
proxy-core.balancer = "round-robin"
proxy-core.allow-x-sendfile = "enable"
# proxy-core.check-local = "enable"
proxy-core.protocol = "fastcgi"
proxy-core.backends = ( "unix:/tmp/php-fastcgi.sock" )
proxy-core.max-pool-size = 16
proxy-core.worked-with-modcache = "enable"
}

Make sure to leave the # in front of proxy-core.check-local = "enable" otherwise lighttpd won't start, don't know why.

Also don't forget to add proxy-core.worked-with-modcache = "enable" otherwise mod_cache won't do anything.

Save the config file and start lighttpd

sudo /etc/init.d/lighttpd start

If everything goes well you should see something like this
* Starting lighttpd [ OK ]
* Starting spawn-fcgi spawn-fcgi.c.206: child spawned successfully: PID: 15245
[ OK ]

inside the /var/www folder create index.php file and add something to it

test by browsing http://localhost/index.php
You should see php configuration options here

How to uninstall
go back to the lighttpd source
sudo make uninstall

Traffic Shaping with Lighttpd + PHP

Here's how I manage traffic on my web site that's served over a basic cable connection. The site has a forum and an area for register members to download stuff from. Having a very limited upload capacity I have to make sure members don't suck everything and make the forum unresponsive.

So here's how my lighttpd.conf file is setup:

# this limits the amount of connection a user can make to the server
evasive.max-conns-per-ip = 10

# then on my site configuration I use a combination of connection.kbytes-per-secon and evasive.max-conns-per-ip to throttle user connections to the download script
$HTTP["host"] =~ "sitegeisha\.dyndns\.dk" {
connection.kbytes-per-second = 64
$HTTP["url"] =~ "dl\.php" {
connection.kbytes-per-second = 32
evasive.max-conns-per-ip = 3
}
}

This configuration allows me to limit the number of simultaneous downloads they can make, if they go over 3 they get a 403 error message.

PulseAudio : Hate and Hate (pathetic audio)

Why the fuck does ubuntu need pulseaudio, everything seemed to work so well "WITHOUT" it!!! After removing the damn thing it seems xbmc worked much better on my system, before I had to kill it before launching xbmc. Had some troubles with boxee too, but after removing PA it works much better now.

All I can say is PulseAudio = Pathetic Audio

No one wants you PulseAudio so scram!!!

killall pulseaudio
sudo apt-get remove pulseaudio

Firefox 3.2 Alpha release is now available! Not sure yet what is new with this release but I'm sure to give it a try, might break a lot of extensions though.
